Stepping off the deep end

It was very warm last weekend and we ended up down the coast again at Broardstairs where a group of people were jumping off the pier.

It is also a bit of a metaphor for what I have done over the past few days.

I have lots of images on Alamy, but the sales figures are rather disappointing, so I have been looking at alternative channels for selling and distributing images. The distribution part is more for the commercial work I do where I want to move away from relying on DVD's and the post for delivering images.

I have been looking and thinking about Photoshelter for some time but not had the courage to make the leap.

Last week they had an offer that was too good to miss so now I have a full e-com website to sell and distribute my images. A link is on the list at the right.

At the moment there is only about 3 galleries up as a test, but this will grow as I prep and upload images.

If nothing else it will give me something for my spare time.

Gurdwara

After the olympic torch passed through Gravesend, we went into the Gurdwara to have a look at the interior now it is finished. Last time things had been near to finished but bits were like the lights were not in. Now the interior is finished it is an amazing building richly decorated with marble.

Olympic Torch

The Olympic torch came to Gravesend today.  We missed the attempt to steal the torch but what do you expect from Denton.
We decided to go to the Gurdwara to watch as we would get to see the torch go in and out, a handover with photos, and an interesting background.
In the end I found almost the perfect location and got some nice images. The light was not in the best direction, but with a bit of HDR processing and some cropping, I got an image that I was pleased with. The jaunty angle is because I was holding the camera above my head and I was out of practice.
After we went into the Gurdwara for a look around. We had not seen the interior since it was completed. There were lots of people around and the finished interior is very impressive I will post some images of that in the next day or so.

256 shades of grey

OK so I have got your attention.

The image today is taken from my attic window. After the terrible weather we have been having over the past few weeks, or is it months now?, any day that has sun and clouds is one to be savoured.

This was taken a few days ago and the playing fields have never looked so green and verdant as they have this summer. In the past few years we have had relatively dry summers and by now the grass would be dry and withered. This year is so very different. In the past 2 weeks we have had nearly three inches of rain. All this is rather hard to see as I have converted the image to B&W, but rest assured The grass is long and green and in need of being cut again.

Sea views

After a long spell of long hours in work. We had time off from work together! The weather was also kind and for the first time in days there was no rain during the day.

We had a drive out down the coast and a full circuit of the Thanet.

Both the images were taken near Margate.

Long Time Gone

It's been some time since I put up a post here. I have been very busy at work, shooting a job  and selling on ebay. The last of my Hasselblad lenses has gone and I only have a few bits of film equipment left to sell.

The picture today is from a couple of days ago and was taken in Surrey.

The sunset is from my attic window.

Sunset Margaretting

A nice sunset but full moon stayed behind the clouds.
